I have replaced the FL inverter board…3rd time now…1st time worked for 4 months…second…lasted 1 day, I thought I had an out of box failure, but still the same symptoms. But still can not use the battery. Latitude ON is essentially a system within a system. I am going to replace the backlight. The computer will not run on the battery at all.

The backlight lamp is located inside the LCD screen, on the bottom. Unfortunately the only way to find out is testing the laptop with a good backlight lamp. I took it to a local computer repair centre who say that its a motherboard problem and the entire motherboard needs to be replaced!

It happened all of the sudden. Can you ask the seller to replace the inverter board and try it?

Sounds like you might have gotten audik bad inverter board. This article needs to be updated. Is there any way to subdue the squealing noise without buying another new inverter, or is the problem a bulb?

And this job will turn into a nightmare.
